Workshop: How to Can Meats

Do you enjoy fork-tender meat that can be ready for a meal in just minutes? Then learn how to can meat!

In this workshop, you will experience a live demonstration of meat canning while learning what equipment you need and having the opportunity to get all your canning questions answered by experienced home preservation experts.

What Will You Learn?

Family and Consumer Science agents from both Polk and Henderson County will be leading this workshop which will cover topics such as:

  • What low-acid foods are appropriate for canning
  • Preparing meat for canning
  • Equipment and utensils needed for meat canning
  • Pressure cooker safety
  • How long canned foods can safely be stored

How Much Does It Cost?

There will be a $15 materials fee for the workshop, which will include a canned sample to take home.
