Collapse ▲The turnover of the new calendar year means something great for Polk County residents: it’s time for N.C. Cooperative Extension of Polk County’s annual berry & asparagus sale! “In the bleak mid-winter” we can all use thoughts of succulent berries hanging from warm summer branches and vines to cheer us up. And how wonderful will it be when those first asparagus shoots peek up through the ground in years to come? Let’s plan ahead for a wonderful harvest!
This year, plant lovers have their choice of five varieties of blueberries, two types of strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries, and one asparagus option. The Extension will be taking orders for the berry plants through February 21, 2020, and then the berries should be ready for pickup in mid-March.
NOTE: All proceeds from the plant sale will go directly back into the programs, outreach, and educational programs of the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Polk County!
