Youth Market Broiler Project 2019
Broilers are a meat chicken that can be ready for sale in as little as 5-8 weeks. The Youth Market Broiler Project provides NC youth ages 5-18 with the opportunity to receive 5 broiler chicks and a 50 lb. bag of feed. Youth who participate will choose a lot of 3 of the birds to show at the WNC Mountain Fair on Saturday, September 14, and then all five birds must be returned following the show conclusion.
Those taking part in the Youth Market Broiler Project will also be eligible to participate in the Polk County 4-H Poultry Club. This club will meet weekly during the project to learn about poultry husbandry.
To discover more about the project and the corresponding poultry club, please bring your student to the Poultry Project Orientation Meeting at the Cooperative Extension on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 3-5 p.m. We’d love to know how many youth to expect for the orientation. Could you RSVP below if your student plans on attending? (We highly recommend that at least one parent/guardian attend the Orientation with their child.)
