Visit our office at 79 Carmel Lane in Columbus (behind the Senior’s Meeting Place on Skyuka Rd.) to pick up soil sample boxes.
Soil tests are free from April 1 through Thanksgiving Day. If outside of this timeframe, the fee is $4 per box. If your sample requires a fee you must submit the “Soil Sample Information” form online and pay the required fee prior to shipping the sample(s). The Agronomic division prefers all “Soil Sample Information” forms be submitted online.
Be sure to get a brochure with details on how to collect and submit your sample(s).
After you have collected your samples, pack them tightly in a box so that they do not break open during shipment. Then go to the post office to mail the sample(s) to the Agronomic Division.
You will receive a notice via email from the Agronomic Division that your test is available and how to find it on their database. It usually takes 2 weeks to get a result. However, if it’s during the peak season (Thanksgiving through March) it may take as long as 6 weeks.
Contact Scott Welborn for samples taken from a garden or lawn and he will help you with the appropriate recommendations. Contact Cassie LeMaster for samples taken from a pasture and she will help you with the appropriate recommendations. Both can be reached at (828) 894-8218.
