Nothing beats fresh tasting home canned food to preserve summer's goodness all through the year. Safe preservation of homegrown food is a primary concern of the Family and Consumer Sciences Program in Polk County. "Canning and Preserving Made Easy" is a program offered by a team of Extension Agents from Polk and surrounding counies. Your dial-gauge pressure canner should be checked for accuracy yearly, and the Extension Center will check yours for free.
